The Celestial Pulpit in the Ulu Cami, Bursa, Turkey

In 1399 CE, 616 years ago in the Grand Mosque of Bursa, Turkey, in what was then the Ottoman Empire, this wooden pulpit was created using only finely fitted together pieces of wood. It appears to show a representation of our solar system on the left side wall of the staircase. It is notable that, if this is a depiction of our solar system, it matches with Galileo's solar model for which the Catholic Church sentenced him to death in 1642.
There has been some study into the positioning and size relationships of the details resulting in some curious results. Firstly, research asserts that there is some mathematical symmetry that closely mimics our true solar system, including that there is a common angular plane around the sun for all the planets represented on the pulpit. Secondly that there is a difference in the positioning of what some say represents the dwarf planet Pluto (discovered in 1929 with telescopes); that the knob is represented on a separate mathematical plane from the other planets. Thirdly, there seems to be some suggestion from the research that the opposite side of the pulpit could represent galaxies, perhaps our own in a local group.
These research results are exciting and more research needs to be done before science will be able to accept such accurate ancient knowledge. I am just an Ancient Enthusiast, like you I am hesitant to believe such incredible findings without more research, but it is very interesting and thought provoking.
